December 26th, 2004, Beijing - PetroChina Company Limited (PetroChina) announced today that starting from December 26, 2004, it launches a new logo. The new logo will be jointly owned by PetroChina and its parent company China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).
The new logo sample is a petal graphic equally divided by ten in red and yellow colors as follows.
PetroChina will use the following two forms of combination of the new logo in different occasions to accommodate different needs:
The new logo is in red and yellow, which are the basic colors of the national flag of the People's Republic of China, and which embody the characteristics of the oil and gas industry. The overall logo is round in shape, meaning PetroChina's global development strategy. Ten equally divided petals symbolize the consolidated core business of PetroChina. The red base highlights an angle of a square shape, not only demonstrating PetroChina's strong fundamentals, but also implicating the company's huge power of cohesion and creativity. The flower look represents PetroChina's social responsibility of creating harmony between energy and environment. The rising sun in the center of the logo with four rays of sunlight symbolize PetroChina will have a prosperous future.
The new logo inherits PetroChina and CNPC's existing registered trademarks and while reflecting the companies' characteristics, it is the integration of logos of PetroChina and CNPC, in order to increase awareness among consumers and the general public. It also combines the function of a service logo and a product logo.
By using the new logo, PetroChina and CNPC will fully demonstrate their integrated market value and establish the brand impact of "PetroChina". After the use of the new logo, PetroChina can take full advantage of CNPC in the business field both at home and abroad, to further elevate PetroChina's local and international influence by means of the new logo, enhancing and upgrading its image, creating more values for the shareholders and the society.
