Authorized by PetroChina, spokesman for PetroChina Cao Zhengyan delivered another written statement to iterate that PetroChina has based all of its assets domestically without making any investment in Sudan. PetroChina has made no concrete plans for investment either. The investment is the Sudanese project, as called by rumors, is not of the assets of PetroChina but those of CNPC.
The fund from PetroChina's IOP will be used only for domestic oil and gas field development projects and pipeline construction projects as well as repayment of debt in part. PetroChina has made a series of measures to ensure the raised fund against violation of the relative laws and regulations. As what is unveiled in the prospectus, PetroChina has established an independent account for IOP fund so that application of such fund can be confirmed. Independent law counsels are invited to examine the procedures for operating and allocating the fund under the independent account. Meanwhile, independent accountants are invited to audit the deposit under the independent account and the process and documents for drawing the fund on a regular basis, confirming independently the execution of the relative principles and procedures.
PetroChina has noticed that the United Nations has adopted economic sanctions against some countries and regions. PetroChina will make no decisions against the interests of shareholders.
