PetroChina Announces the Establishment of its
Oil and Gas Pipeline Network Dispatching Center in Beijing
(2007-03-18)

18 March 2007, Beijing - PetroChina Company Limited ("PetroChina" , SEHK stock code 0857; NYSE symbol PTR) announced today the establishment of the Beijing Oil and Gas Pipeline Network Dispatching Center ("the Center"). At the ceremony, PetroChina announced the official launch of the oil and gas pipeline network dispatching system. The new system marks a great leap in PetroChina's centralized dispatching and controlling operation and integration of oil and gas transmission lines. It also helps the company achieve higher productivity and enhance operation safety. The new establishment is a result of PetroChina's persistent efforts in improving its growth strategy, strengthening its production and operation management and pursuing an innovative development strategy in the oil and gas pipeline business.

The establishment of the Center is a development milestone in PetroChina's pipeline business operation. The new system will gradually restructure PetroChina's dispatching and management operation in long distance pipeline network through integration and system revamp. While the first phase of the project has already been completed, the Center is now prepared for dispatching and controlling three long-distance pipelines including West-East Gas Pipeline, the First Shaanxi-Beijing Gas Pipeline and the Second Shaanxi-Beijing Gas Pipeline in Beijing. The Center is also poised to take over the dispatching and controlling operation of these three pipelines. Within the current year, by making further developments, the Center will centralize the dispatching operations of other natural gas pipelines, refined oil pipelines and crude oil pipelines of the company which have the conditions for centralization. Thereafter, PetroChina will also continue its efforts to improve the remote controlling system in a move to achieve "full automation" and "remote controlling" at the oil and gas pipeline stations.

Upon the completion of the Center's construction, it will become an operation unit with multiple functions. It will be responsible for operating PetroChina's long-distance oil and gas pipelines, dispatching management, remote data collection and coordination of urgent reparation and maintenance resources. Distant controlling and monitoring operation will be made possible by the Center's SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system. The Center can produce pipeline volume forecasts and develop transmission plans by leveraging the computing capabilities, network and communication technology offered by the system. In addition, the Center will also provide backend support and simulation training.
