27 April 2007, Beijing - PetroChina Company Limited ("PetroChina" or the "Company", SEHK stock code 0857; NYSE symbol PTR) announced today that the construction of the Yingmaili gas fields has been completed and production has been officially kicked off. Located in Akesu District, Xinhe County, Xinjiang Uygar Autonomous Region, the Yingmaili gas fields signify the full completion of the first batch of producing gas fields for the West-East Gas Pipeline in the Tarim gas region. As the Yingmaili gas fields go into production, they will start supplying gas to the West-East Gas Pipeline together with the other producing gas fields including Kela-2, Yaha, Jilake, Sangnan, and Jinan-4 etc. This will bring the annual gas production capacity of the Tarim Oilfield up to over 15 billion cubic meters, which has sturdily ensured a safe and stable gas supply to the West-East Gas Pipeline.

The Yingmaili gas fields comprise three condensate gas fields, Yingmaili, Yangtake, and Yudong-2, with a total proven original natural gas in place of 65.628 billion cubic meters and proven original condensate and crude oil in place of 26 million tons. The construction began in December 2005, which consisted of internal gas gathering and transmission, crude oil and gas treatment, and external gas pipeline. The designed annual production capacity is 2.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas, 500 thousand tons in condensate oil, and 40 thousand tons of liquefied natural gas, thus the Yingmaili gas fields have become the second largest core gas supplier in the Tarim Oilfield for the West-East Gas Pipeline.

According to Mr. Song Wenjie, the Deputy General Manager of Tarim Oilfield Company, Tarim Oilfield has secured a solid resource base for proved original natural gas in place of 840 billion cubic meters. As of the end of 2006, an annual gas supply of 20 billion cubic meters to the eastern region for 30 years.

Currently, Tarim Oilfield is providing natural gas to over 80 major cities of 12 provinces and manuicipalities, covering eastern China with Shanghai as the regional center and northern China with Beijing as the regional center.
